This photograph shows us how the Americans fight in the Vietnam war. American soldiers were usually carried in by helicopters and dropped off into the woods. This image was significant because it demonstrates the brave and enthusiastic energy of the American soldiers even in harsh conditions. American people believe in capitalism and was willing to stop communism with any cost. The spirit of the Americans is a role model and this spirit accord them to be the strongest country.

This picture shows a dramatic death of a monk named Thich Quang Duc. He was significant becuase his actions was one the reason that made Americans stop the Vietnam War. If I could ask him a question, I'll ask,"How did it felt when the fire caught your eyeballs?" He was a brave monk and he proved it.

The leaders in the Cold War were all fantistic, but it admire Ho Chi Minh more than other leaders. Ho Chi Minh has the courage and guts to defeat the American troops sent into Vietnam. Americans treated him wrong by abanding him when he needs the help and started a war with him after left capitalism.

Politic Cartoons

Leaders of both America and Russia didn't want to have a nuclear war. This politic cartoon shows that humans has control of the nuclear war and to stop it, is simply just cooperation together. The reality is that both countries would be destroyed if nuclear missiles were fired.

http://www.piedmontcommunities.us/servlet/go_ProcServ/dbpage=page&gid=01360001151140401687191186

The cartoonist is trying to show that prejudice should be forgetten and that America should be a equal country. It also shows that Uncle Sam wants American soldiers fight in a cooperative team. The reality is that prejudice isn't totally cleaned and many are still whirling around.

http://www.tfaoi.com/am/8am/8am203.jpg

The cartoonist shows Kennedy and Kruschev arm wrestling against each other, this meant the Cuban Missile Crisis. They both have the trigger to start the nuclear war and the distance of pressing the button was so close. The reality was that they both didn't dare to start the nuclear war.

Cold War Map

The photograph taken by American's U2 spy plane from Cuba. This map clearly shows that Cuba was setting up missile lanch stages and was cooperating with Russia. I learned that Capitalism and Communism is always against each other.

A representation of the space race between America and Russia during the Cold War period. I learned that these two countries were the first to gain real experience in space and that both are very strong countries even until now.

Historical Imagination

To my dearly wife Fit,

Hello darlin, I've got problems in Russia these few years. Since we aren't living together, I'll like to tell you how I felt during these few years. America and Russia are fighting over to prove that they are the most powerful country in the world. The television news and newspapers are always talking about the progress in the race. The country is demanding for finacial support and tried to increase the tax. Russia is making nuclear weapons and massing them for no reasons, simply to show Americans that we have more. The news few days again was surpising, because we had got a space ship into the space. This is going to be a big step to victory. Anyways, I hope you are doing well in Bangkok and I'll try to leave the country if it is possible. Miss ya.

Schindler's List

Schindler's List is a film based on Germany's event during the World War 2. The film was named Schindler's List is becuase Schindler was a hero to many people. Oscar Schindler was his real name, he was a member of the Nazi party but secretly disagree with them with killing Jewish people. The film showed how he save the Jewish people from death penalties by hiring them to work for him. Schindler hired Jewish people to make weapons for the Nazis in order to give them support in World War 2. The film stirked me when I saw Schindler arguing with the Nazi leader to treat Jewish people as humans, Schindler could be said to be a brave and determined person. Schindler's list has all his workers name on it and all names on the list was saved from their death penalties. The list of names written on his paper was awarded, he got thousands of supporters after the World War ended, he had places to hide from victorious forces. Schindler was respected my Jewish people, after his death there were people who come and offer him gifts. 7 oscar awards were given on this film, and I know why now.

About 6 million Jews were executed or murdered at the end of the Holocaust. Laws to ban Jews from all job and bussinesses were established first, then laws got worst agianst the Jews. It was so desperate at the end to even gas thousands of Jews to death.

Russian Revolution Posters

What's Propaganda?
Propaganda is the information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause or important events, such as electives of presidents or prime ministers. It could either be true or false infomation given to people, but mostly false in order to make people agree with you(Political party/Government/Important Ideals). We could learn history by using propaganda to debate between justice and injustice.

This is a poster that shows communist countries united together, but Russia's flag was on the top of all flags, this also meant Russia is the leader of all communist countries. This poster is trying to show communist citizens that socialism equals peace. The poster includes countries such as Russia, East Germany, Rumania, Poland, and etc. This poster also convinces the communist people to unite up and overthrow the capitalist countries. This poster is effective to the communist countries, because it shows the strength/power together in one. But this poster failed to show the meaning of peace, because the picture doesn't show socialism equals peace, it was supported with the subtitles.

This is a poster that wants every communist soldier be ready to fight as a minuteman. It wants to convince all communist soldiers to protect and gaurd their homeland. The poster shows that Russia is strong in all kinds of three military forces, the navy, air force, and army. It wants the soldier to kill a target in the first shot. The poster also wants all the soldiers to obey their commander. This poster looks effective because it shows how strong the Russian military is and cooperation would crush the enemies easy.

This poster shows us the workers holding up the map of Russia. The publisher wants everybody to know that Russia is a country where workers cooperate with each other. The workers are standing side to side and looking up at the flag ( shape of Russia) means the uprising of Russia. The message of the poster was "Your work, my work for the homeland", this meant they are in a state of government called Communism. I think the poster is trying to make russian people think of "cooperation", because everything relates to cooperation to make a country strong. This poster looks effective because I really liked the idea of "cooperation".

This poster's message is "Peace, work, May Day". The publisher made the soviet sign become a part of a dove in order to show us international peace sign. The soviet sign was made to show the russian people that working would get you peace and May Day (Renewal/Pleasure day). The background is red, so I think this is a example of communism, because communism states that you have to work your hardest to gain what you are in need of. A good propaganda poster doesn't need much words or none, this poster shows three words, but it cleary demostrates the issue during that time of the revolution.

This poster's message is basically showing the strong military force of the Red Army during Stalin's rule of Russia. The red wall with a soviet sign on it represents the Red Army's territory. The missiles and artilleryman beside the walls are to show the defense line of Russia during Stalin's rule. To demostrate Stalin's security toward his people, this poster was made to benefit him. Eventually very effective against the citizens of Russia during that time, becuase they would never know how the defense line would look like.

This poster's message is "The real weight of peace". The gun represents violet/death/kill, vice versa the dove represents peace/holy/freedom. In order to continue Lenin's belief toward peace, someone published this poster to show peace could always overcome violet, this is the same pricipal of light always overcome dark. In this picture the dove sitting on the gun made it bend down, this also meant the weight of peace is greater than the weight of hatrad. The poster looks effective to me because it has good intensions to life, I always thought that light shall beat dark.

Decade of War: 1910-1919

The Most Important Event (1910-1919)

World War 1 (1914-1919).
A picture from www.diggerhistory.info. World War 1 was now known as the Great War. This is a World War 1 tank, it had already been damaged at the side. Tanks at that time isn't offensive, it's use for bulletproof and transportation. It carries troops into battlefields and made flanking alot easier. World War 1 started at 1914 and lasted at 1919. Germany and Russia were the two countries who started the world wars. They cooperated and invaded Europe, Many countries would attacked by them together at a time. The spliting of armies made each country hard to win wars. World war 1 brought the rise of communism in Russia, it changed from old Russian Empire into the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The war ended when Adolf Hitler took over Germany. I chose this because it was a World War and all nations were included.

The Russian Revolution (1917-1922)

I chose this picture because this revolution effects Europe+America, it is a important part of history.

Mona Lisa Stolen (1911)

A picture from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mona_Lisa"
It was told that August 21, 1911 was the date that Leonardo da Vinci's famous oil painting was stolen. It was stolen right off the wall of the Louvre ( A museum in France). Nobody even notice that the most famous painting in the museum was stolen until that next day. There weren't any evidence to be found on How?Why? about the theif. This oil painting was also called the "enigmatic smile", no human could redraw it again, because the smile was too realistic.
I chose this picture becuase I'm interested in art, and I agree that this picture is great.

The Most Important Technology (1910-1919)

Lewis Gun
A picture from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_gun"
Lewis gun was invented by a US Colonel named Isaac Newton Lewis. It was used in World War 1 against the Germans, it did alot of damage to the Germans. The germans even gave it a name called the "Belgian Rattlesnake", because it could shoot 550 rounds of bullet per minute. I chose this gun because in my veiw it was one of the strongest machine gun in World War 1.

Edwin Armstrong

A picture from www.radio.about.com
Edwin Armstrong was a very famous because he was one of the radio inventors, he's radio research helped the Germans in World War1. He's radio could go about 16,900 meters, it is a bit above the range of hearing. He's radio was tested and broadcasting on the Eiffel tower. I chose about radio because I think it affects our life alot nowadays, I am curious about radio when I listen to music in my car.

36 Mills Bomb(Gernade)
A picture from "http://www.rt66.com/~korteng/SmallArms/images/36Mills.jpg" The Mill Bomb was used in 1915(World War 1) by the British forces. It was invented by William Mills, a Birmingham engineer. It was made because soldiers discovered that olden gerandes sometimes explode in their own Trench. This geranade become famous because it had a pin on it, and the gernade had a 7 second fuse before explode. I chose this because gernades are facinating chemicals.
